Queen Liliʻuokalani – A Spirit of Spirit of Courage, Resilience and Aloha

She was more than Hawaiʻi’s last reigning monarch — she was the voice of her people, the keeper of their dignity, and the heart that refused to surrender its love for the land.

Her words and music carried the ache of loss, the strength of faith, and the unshakable belief that justice would rise again like the sun over her islands.

Liliʻuokalani lived inside a Spirit Bubble of courage, grace, and aloha — holding fast to her people’s spirit even as the crown was taken from her head.

From the composing of Aloha ʻOe in exile to her tireless petitions for Hawaiian rights, she showed us:
Power can be taken — but honor lives forever.

She reminds us:

Stand in your truth, even if you stand alone.

Lead with compassion, even in defeat.

And let your song carry your people’s heart into the future.

Queen Liliʻuokalani’s Spirit Bubble connects her with:
King Kamehameha I (unification & vision)
Abraham Lincoln (justice & perseverance)
Mother Teresa (service & faith)
Whitney Houston (voice as legacy)
Joan of Arc (courage in adversity)

Her Spirit whispers:
“They may silence your throne — but never your song.”

Aloha'Oe

Queen Lili'uokalani

Queen Lili'uokalani composed Aloha'Oe while under house arrest at the Iolani Palace. The song displays the beautiful, traditional culture of Hawaii while weaving in hints of Western influences.

The Queen’s Prayer

Hawaiian Royalist Song

The Queen’s Prayer (originally titled Ke Aloha O Ka Haku, which translates as The Lord’s Mercy) is a song written by the last Queen of Hawaii, Queen Lili’uokalani, in 1895 as she sat imprisoned in ‘Iolani Palace by the US-backed republican government which overthrew her in a coup d’etat two years prior, in 1893. The song has since become a popular ode to the Queen, and a symbol of the tragic end of the Hawaiian monarchy.

All things in this world are two: in heaven there is but One.

Queen Liliʻuokalani’s life and spirit remain a guiding star for Hawaiʻi and the world.

Her reign carried the soul of aloha — a blend of compassion, courage, and unshakable love for her people. She stood in the face of injustice with grace, her heart anchored in faith, and her hands still offering music, poetry, and peace. From the throne room of ʻIolani Palace to the quiet places where she prayed, her voice spoke for her people, and her song still carries across generations.

Her connection to Hawaiʻi was deeper than her crown — she showed that a leader’s highest duty is to protect the heart of the land and the dignity of its people. Even when stripped of political power, she ruled with moral authority, proving that aloha cannot be overthrown. Beyond politics, her hymns, writings, and acts of kindness became the legacy that continues to inspire justice, unity, and healing.

Prayer for Queen Liliʻuokalani – The Crown of Aloha

Dear God of Aloha, Justice, and Peace,

We come in the name of Lydia Liliʻu Loloku Walania Kamakaʻeha — The Queen who carried her people in her heart.

You gave her the courage to face injustice with grace,
To answer betrayal with song,
And to hold fast to the spirit of aloha.

Liliʻuokalani, walk with us now.
Teach us to stand without hatred,
To protect without fear,
And to love without end.

May we live as you did —
Rooted in truth,
Guided by faith,
And crowned with compassion.

Amen, Queen of Aloha.

"E ʻonipaʻa i ka ʻimi naʻauao," meaning "Be steadfast in the seeking of knowledge"
